Just in case we don't talk about KU enough on here... Shawn just taught Adelaide's very first KU class!
It went extremely well with about a dozen students attending. Lets hope it continues to grow for Renshi Jason's (or even Hanshi Patrick McCarthy's) next visit.

Shawn started off with the regular formalities, then ran a KU style warm up, some stance differences for the mostly shotokan stylists, kihon (basics), tegumi drills, heishu waza (closed fist drills), and the beginning of shime waza (choke drill).

Shawn and I started at 6:30 and finished after 9, but it just flew by.

WELL DONE SHAWN!

Chris, you're a gun, you beat me to it!

While I was quite nervous to start with, I had an absolute ball! I was so impressed by all the students jumping into the new syllabus with both feet, and just loving it. I think most were truly excited at the opportunity of something new.

We went through the new bowing ceremony with everyone, which is rather formal. I then moved into the warmup, which I admit, I haven't memorised yet.

I tried to give everyone a little taste of what KU was all about, taking from various bits and pieces. It seemed to work well from what I can tell.

Thanks again to Chris for coming down and Andrew for his help getting this together.... and for going to pick up the pants I left at home :p

hahaha, white belt. the saying about the belt not necesarily relating to ability goes both ways :D

its all good, was my fault, went for the transition and stuffed it up. i dont mind getting hit every now and then, adds to the realism.
