Bragging for me, kind of...

Black Belt grading on Thursday night, had my first student grade to BB. So Bragging for him as well. Think I sweated it out with him, might have been more nervous than he was. Some of you guys may remember him from one of the Jason Seminars at Paradise, Terry Hart.?

Tough night as they all are. Started with stance and basics work for a bit, tough on the legs. Some partner work where I managed to grab Terry for a partner, working through some kata applications, to takedowns. Back in line for some kick work, eekkk more legs. Then a change from the regular BB format , they removed the ppl attempting grading to do kata and sparring and the rest of us did a flow drill. lol couldn't stop watching the grading group, had to rely on my partner not to hit me! We normally get to do kata together and watch the Gradees Kata, and then all get a chance to spar. Poor Terry managed to get the Boss twice! and then cop one in the boy bits right on Yame in his last round.

So, a well deserved new Shodan-Ho. (8 to Shodan-ho on the night, 4 younguns. (14-16 years) and 4 adults.)

Congrats Terry!

It was a great night! I was standing out during their kata and sparring section (coz I was in pain AGAIN!) They all did fantastic! It was a tremendous honour to be able to watch one of my instructors receive his 'well deserved and well earned' black belt! He has had wonderful guidance throughout his training! Congratulations Sensei Terry!!!

Great work!

Katagirl, I can sympathis with you there. I estimate I've been on the desk of just under 50 gradings now and I still get nervous when my guys grade because I want them to do well. Congrats Terry!

Congratulations Julie & Terry,

I remember i was as nervous as hell when i first went for my Shodan, and probably even more when i had my students grade (only ever had two make that far, three if i now include Shawn), it was as if i was i living every move they did with them, just wanting them ace it and give their best etc. Definite rollercoaster of emotions.

Hope i managed to help in some way with applications...?

Congratulations again to you both on a great achievement!
