Krav Maga split ?

Postby gkrav on Mon Jul 19, 2010 11:22 pm

Hi all

Is there anyone out there that knows why and what is likely to happen to Krav Maga now ?

An extract from Krav Maga-USA.com

"Many things are changing in the world of Krav Maga, the most significant of which is Eyal’s transition from the IKMF to Krav Maga Global. The IKMF has run its course and we now need a more stable, modern and reliable organization. The web is full of Krav Maga: Tactical KM, Commando KM, Full Contact and a lot more…
It’s time to provide a clear vision for the future of the system that will propel us for the next decade. KMG is that vision, not for Eyal, but for all of us."

Is this the start of the power struggle that eventually happens with a lot of clubs and organisations?

A martial art/self defence style splitting into factions?? NEVERR......hahahaha!
I really don't care about the politics involved...and there's a lot of it...but I know that the street defensive tactics school is going to align their organization with KMG. The IKMF Australia will now be headed by Kurt Colpan in Sydney.
At the end of the day, this is all bullshit, as usual associated with the top guys' egos fighting each other. I'm not even disillusioned, I'm sure Linden you've seen your fair share of this rubbish in your time in other arts.
But then again, I suppose I'm in the position where I train for the love of it, rather than to sustain a living, so can step back from all the drama.
I'm going to stop writing before I express my abject hatred and DISRESPECT for certificate/5 day course diploma collectors and the like.

Nope, we have our own problems (particularly in Australia - Taekwondo Australia v Sports Taekwondo Australia and who is actually recognised by the WTF, Kukkiwon and AOC).
Nightmare - I'd stay away.

yeah but localised to Oz, and it is all over recognition to be the governing body that supplies athletes to the olympic games. Which IMO is the worst thing that happened to TKD (sportification and inclusion in the olympics that is).
